Good evening friends! Toby is back with another article. This time I will be ranking all 32 BRHL GMs based on activity, how much I like you, and your actual ability to be a good GM.
32. Tobias (MIN) - Thought it would be cringe to rank myself anywhere in this as the writer. Also may be here on other people's rankings. Felt like the right spot.
31. Tyler (VAN) - No disrespect to Tyler here but he's allowed to be named Tyler for some reason and doesn't appear in chat much. Not a boatload of activity but not familiar with the shape of his team either. Hasn't been here long, that is all.
30. Dev (ANA) - Dev said in chat today that he may be the worst in here which sparked this article so I could have put him higher just for that. I think Devo is more than capable of being an elite gm but gets discouraged from competing very very easily. Strings together a few moves of pure greatness and then turns it into a rebuild. Didn't want to be biased, so fuck you Dev.
29. PJ (NYR) - Love when PJ chimed into the chat telling us we were taking years to do the draft however I would love more chat activity from him and he also hasn't been here super long it feels like either. Feel OK having him here.
28. LION (SJ) - I love the Lion as much as anybody but an extremely questionable track record of trades. State of his org is a WOW and not in a good way. Always inquires but never offers anything LOL. <3 you Lion.
27. Barrel (OTT) - I have no doubt that Bray will be considered a great gm in here one day but as of now he is just a new gm having an OK start to his rebuild. A lot of the newer gms are near the bottom if you're noticing a trend.
26. Anthony (PHI) - I really like dealing with Anthony trade wise but just feels like he never has a truly top end team with good depth. One of my favourite guys to deal with in here but unfortunately a lack of success will hold him here.
25. RW Cordell (CAR) - Sorry dad LOL. Your team is never great and for the most part you never have any picks. Your drafting of late has been a bit subpar. You also took Gonchar (SUD) right in front of me in the most recent draft which knocked you down a couple spots as well.
24. Joel (UTAH) - I really like Joel and I love what he brings to the league but just never seems to really have a great team. Also feel like I win most trades against him which is never a great sign. Sorry Joel you're the man.
23. Ken (NJD) - Despite some of our differences I have grown to respect Ken a lot more of late. Has been doing a solid job with the rebuild and I like his style of management. Relatively new as well but excited to see how he continues to improve his team.
22. Matt (PITT) - I guess I have differences with quite a few people in here LOL. I thought Matt did a decent job in his first season getting the Pens into the playoffs although I do feel he mortgaged off a bit too much of the future to do so. I think we just had different visions for where the Pens were at and there is nothing wrong with that. Pretty high rank here considering how I have ranked a lot of the newer members of the BRHL fam.
21. Pat (COL) - I love what Pat has brought to the BRHL in his time here but I feel like he maybe could have done a better job managing the gift that Bryce left him. Only ranked this high due to our bonding of late over Love Island. Good taste in women on the show, also fuck Kenzie.
20. Rex (SEA) - Have been loving what Rex has been doing lately and has a really solid core built for himself but a little bit tough to get a deal done with and also wants to keep injuries off which I strongly disagree with. All love though Rexy you've got a great thing going.
19. Eric D (STL) - This is purely an emotional ranking. Always poison pills specifically my players in FA, never gives me enough cash for articles, and always outbids my guys late in FA. Too set on giving me the true BRHL experience, not much good to say here. Totally kidding, thank you Eric for all you do for the league, but also stop fucking with me LOL.
18. Eric F (TB) - This is also an emotionally driven ranking. Didn't give me enough draft notice for the date or time (fully aware it isn't just your job but fuck you anyways). JK, greatly appreciate all you do for the league the same as other Eric. These rankings are honestly tough to do, feel like both Eric's could be ranked significantly higher by other GMs.
17. Joe (NYI) - I feel like when I joined the BRHL Joe had some outstanding teams, but unfortunately there seems to be a bit of fall off in the activity. Really miss when he was around more.
16. Jared (BUF) - Despite being the worst 3 seed of all time in BRHL history and a strong advocate for a 3 day weekend, I have Jared right down the middle here. Always active, always around, and seems to be consistently putting together strong teams of late.
15+14 Doc and Garrett (WPG) + (TOR) - Felt right sticking these two together for all the same reasons. Both will always do as they should for their org but also both extremely difficult to trade with. Feels like pulling teeth to get something remotely fair in most cases. Respect both tremendously though.
13. Jesiah (CBJ) - Once again will mention that he is a core member of the BRHL family and I really hope he is around long-term. Seems to always ice great rosters when competing but isn't afraid to rebuild when needed either.
12. Sober Ty (FLA) - Honestly sober Ty might just be this high purely out of loving dealing with the guy, but he is also always active and has been putting togeher some decent teams in recent years. Happy to have him here.
11. Dave (CHI) - Dave just always seems to have a strong org, not sure about him bailing Sumit out of Tavares and Ullmark but rarely does questionable shit as a GM so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. More than reasonable to trade with too which helps his rank.
10. Joe (VGK) - Despite releasing a premium draft tool and being a very solid GM, he also is a die hard Kitchener Rangers fan so that knocked him down a couple of pegs as well. Pretty reasonable to deal with trade wise which is always great.
9. Rumpy (LA) - I love Rumpy, awesome to trade with in most cases and is always active. Admitted I was right about something a few weeks back which probably bumped him up about 5 spots in these rankings. Stacked up on 1sts in a completely loaded draft, always has smart asset management for the most part.
8. Larry (WSH) - This law abiding citizen ranks in the top 10 just for always following the rules. Always is kind to me even when he isn't to other people. Have always had a ton of respect for Larry. Happy to give him some credit here.
7. Sheds (NSH) - Makes me sick putting Nashville this high in literally anything but Sheds has consistently had success in the playoffs even when his team is not that great so I have to value that pretty highly.
6. Danny (DET) - I think Danny will go down as one of the all time great BRHL gms one day but as of now he has only built one super team and has done a great job rebuilding that dynasty to this point. Excited to see him do it again as he continues to improve his ORG.
5. Junya (DAL) - Junya had one of the best sim peaks I have seen in my life with back to back BRHL cups but his activity has fallen off so hard that I couldn't justify ranking him any higher right now. Miss when him and Greg were around more. </3
4. Steve (MTL) - Steve is a great dude who was one of the top teams for years when I joined the BRHL. Has obviously taken a step back since but is always super active and overall just great to everybody in the league. Also a dog lover, huge +.
3. Leon (EDM) - Leon is a great GM and I just really appreciate the way he builds his teams up. Loved how he had Mcdavid and Matthews at once, how could you not.
2. Greg (BOS) - feel like his activity has dipped quite a bit and I think he could be close to the top GM if he was just around a little more to ruin the chat and shit. Won't make a BRHL podcast with me so that is why he is not #1. Fuck you Greg, love and miss you <3
1. Kevin (CGY) - Kevin has one of those teams where you look at it and wouldn't even know where to begin in terms of building out a team like that. Truly the best of the best in terms of asset management. Think he could easily mix in a few more deep runs if he pushed his chips in a touch more but he definitely doesn't need advice from me. Just really admire how he somehow manages to always have the most cash, picks, high end prospects, and still manages to consistently have a really solid team.
